Our Riad (boutique hotel) is so pretty and rather quirky. So nice to stay somewhere with character. Breakfast on the terrace is always an enjoyable experience. After quickly reading some last minute tips and places to see in Marrakech, we went to the Ben Youssef, which is an Islamic university/ boarding school. It had the most amazing tiling I have ever seen. The detail and colours were not only impeccable but so exciting and intricate. After admiring the architecture we were equally amazed by architecture of the Musee de Marrakech. Here we starred at the huge chandelier. I wants it. Jemma el fna was next on the agenda, snake charmers, monkey’s dancing… you get the picture. It was here where some happy men jumped on us and wanted us to wear their hats, gave us castanets type things and made us sing/ chant with them. Fun, but slightly scary. Later on we wandered through the souks. A maze of spices and beautiful crafts. We happily got lost for a few hours taking in the brightly coloured spices, bustling markets and woven crafts. Such a spectacle, and better than I ever thought it would be. Again I dressed in bright colours; vibrant pink and royal blue, I was clearly inspired to match the tiles in this skirt. But hey, ho, I love the tiles so I’m happy to match.
