In 1969 a writer for American Fabrics magazine declared, “Denim is one of the world’s oldest fabrics, yet it remains eternally young.”
From the 17th century to the present, denim has been woven, used and discarded; made into upholstery, pants and awnings; found in museums, attics, antique stores and archaeological digs; worn as the fabric of hard honest work, and as the expression of angry rebellion; used for the sails of Columbus’ ships in legend; and worn by American cowboys in fact.
There were so many options that we haven’t posted but here are some our favourite ways to wear this gloriously versatile fabric.
If you are struggling with jeans and would like some honest advice, we strongly recommend visiting a store and talking to the sales advisors. You really don’t need to be scared about sales advisors, they want you to be happy more than a sale so will go above and beyond to ensure you’re satisfied. Plus they love to chat about raw denim, different washes, fits and distressing that the jeans go through and the origins and ethics of the company making the jeans. The stores that we find educate and please us the most are; Diesel, AG Jeans, Nudie (who will repair any pair of Nudie jeans for free), Levis and Paige.
For high street jeans we love, Marks & Spencer and Topshop.
Thanks for checking in and we hope you liked our denim edit,
